In the Magnum, P.I. episode “Sudden Death,” TC (Stephen Hill) asks Magnum (Jay Hernandez) to take on a case to help acquit Hani (Sam Puefua), the father of one of his young football players, who’s accused of murder. The victim is Dr. Ellis Mason, “a concierge kind of M.D.” who drives around with steroids in the trunk of his car. Mason’s body was found in a parking garage and witnesses saw Hani’s car drive away. During the investigation, Magnum comes face to face with Vanessa Nero, a lawyer with “murky morals.”
Vanessa Nero is portrayed by two-time Grammy Award-nominated singer Cyndi Lauper. As an actress, Lauper is known for her roles on Bones (Avalon Harmonica), and Mad About You (Marianne Lugasso, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award), among others. Magnum, P.I. airs Mondays at 9 pm on CBS, right after Happy Together and right before Bull.
