In the Splitting Up Together episode “Asking for a Friend”, Martin (Oliver Hudson) thinks his young girlfriend Lisa Apple (Monica Barbaro) might be pregnant and mentions his concern to his almost ex wife Lena (Jenna Fischer). Martin then goes to the Yah Brah Records office to bare his soul to his friend Arthur (Bobby Lee) who’s hanging with rapper Valee who plays himself. It’s a great scene (see video below).
The 30-year-old Chicago native Valee (pronounced vuh-LAY) is known for his mixtape 1988 which led to his contract with Kanye West’s record label GOOD Music. In March, he released GOOD Job, You Found Me, which includes the single “Cash Don’t Bend” with Ty Money. Splitting Up Together airs Tuesdays at 9:30 pm on ABC, right after black-ish and right before The Rookie.
