On The Big Bang Theory episode “The Procreation Calculation,” while Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) talk about starting a family or maybe not starting a family, Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) is excited about his blind date. His father set him up with a woman named Anu, whom he expects his computer programmer son to marry. But not all of his friends support the idea of Raj’s arranged marriage. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is the exception, of course.

Anu is portrayed by Rati Gupta. The Indiana-born improv comedian is known for her role as Rake on Seth Rogan’s Future Man on hulu, and in the 2011 film Where the Road Meets the Sun. Gupta lays claim to being a professional hip hop dancer who studied dance at Northwestern University and worked with musical artists including Flo Rida. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8pm on CBS, right before Young Sheldon.
