With the 21st annual Dances With Films festival in Hollywood coming to a close, the best-of-the-best were recently announced. Topping the list earning the “Audience Award” was the new indie film Doubting Thomas. The film follows an expecting white couple (Sarah Butler and Will McFadden), who unexpectedly find themselves birthing a black child. Doubt creeps in as people keep confusing their close friend Ron (Bosch’s Jamie Hector) for the baby’s father, including his girlfriend Gianna. As racial and social issues arise, the bonds of trust, friendship, and love are put to the ultimate test.
Jamie Hector’s girlfriend Gianna is portrayed by Isabella Sanchez. Her previous credits include Netflix’s original series Girlboss, the NBC laugher Marlon, and the award-winning indie film The Custom Mary. Also coming soon, Sanchez will emerge in the drama feature Compton’s Finest, about two detectives tracking down a deadly drug cartel; and the biopic Frank & Ava, chronicling the stormy relationship between legends Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner. Growing up in Venezuela and Miami, Sanchez studied Theater Arts at Florida Atlantic University. Interesting fact: Sanchez took a career break a couple years ago to volunteer on a humanitarian effort to teach displaced refugee children in the Middle East.
