For The Voice Knockout Rounds, Blake Shelton pitted 17-year-old Jaclyn Lovey against Jennifer Hudson backup singer Kyla Jade. Blake called in last season’s winner Chloe Kohanski to prep the ladies. During rehearsals, Chloe called Kyla “a tiger of a woman.” And when it came time to perform, Kyla didn’t disappoint.
After Jaclyn sang the sweet song “Put Your Records On,” Kyla performed, with her hands on her hips, Lesley Gore’s classic “You Don’t Own Me.” During Kyla’s killer performance, Kelly Clarkson jumped out of her chair. Kelly did not sit down — Kyla received a standing ovation from all four coaches. Blake didn’t hesitate to announce that Kyla was the winner of the Knockout. Blake said, “Kyla made us feel what she was winning, that’s why she won.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
