In the second episode of the new sitcom Champions, “I Think I’m Gonna Tolerate It Here,” young Michael (J.J. Totah) is desperate to see New York City. The only thing in his way is his father Vince (Anders Holm). Vince still hasn’t told the gym, which he runs with his brother Matthew (Andy Favreau), that he has a secret son. One of the gym employees is Ruby. She’s not your typical personal trainer. She can get a little aggressive at times. Story goes she was a hammer thrower in the Olympics until her teammates ratted her out for using steroids. (That’s why she’s working at the gym.) P.S. Ruby does not believe that families should keep secrets.

Ruby is portrayed by Fortune Feimster. The Southern stand-up comic is known for her roles on Life in Pieces (Jen’s co-worker at the law firm and Colleen’s former roommate Dougie), The Mindy Project (Colette Kimball-Kinney), and in the 2016 film Office Christmas Party (Lonny), among others. Feimster also appeared on and was a writer for Chelsea Handler’s show Chelsea Lately (2011-2014). Champions airs Thursdays at 9:30pm on NBC, right after Will & Grace.
