In the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “In Loco Parentis,” NYPD Detective Dominick “Sonny” Carisi, Jr. (Peter Scanavino) opens a police investigation when his 18-year-old niece Mia (Ryann Shane) claims she’s been sexually assaulted. Her college classmate Eli Hartley (Sam Vartholomeos) is brought in for questioning. With him is his attorney Arlene Heller. Heller has defended clients on the show in the past. Last time she defended a disgraced ex-boxer who made a deal with the NYPD to take down a group of child pornography distributors in the 2016 episode “Collateral Damages.”
