On the special Say Yes to the Dress episode “Randy’s Favorite Celebrity Moments,” bridal dress designer and consultant Randy Fenoli remembers some of his favorite celebrity moments captured on the show. There was the time when TV personality Kelly Ripa came to Kleinfeld to try being a bridal consultant for a day. She learned it’s not easy! And then there was the time the late, great comedian Joan Rivers came into the salon with her friend Arlene Levine. Arlene’s daughter Allie, a lawyer, was planning a wedding on a Hawaiian beach and looking for the perfect special dress.
Keep in mind, at that time Rivers was the host of Fashion Police on E! where she was brutally honest about red carpet looks. While Rivers made occasional jokes like “A beach wedding with that train? You’ll be dragging up shrimp, lobsters and all kinds of seafood,” she was right on with her advice. Rivers told her friend to stay away from simple dresses and to choose something that would stand out. Lots of viewers wrote that they wished Rivers was on the show all the time.
