Most of the young aspiring singers who audition for American Idol are easy to categorize. Pop, country, R&B, soul, rock and roll. Sure, sometimes they overlap — country singers often dip into the pop or rock music ponds. But there are few hard core rock artists who audition on American Idol. Well, get ready America, because Nico Bones from Long Beach, California is auditioning for Season 16 in front of pop diva Katy Perry, Easy-like-Sunday-morning Lionel Richie, and country star Luke Bryan. Nico doesn’t look like the other contestants — he wears lipstick and a black leather collar around his neck. (Too bad Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong isn’t a judge!)
If you like Nico’s sound, he’s selling a $5 four-song EP cassette with bonus horror movie radio spots on each side. The songs are: “I Lose Control”, “Chained Up Blues”, “That’s Not Right”, and “I Made You a Bad Girl.” On the same Lurker Vision website, he’s also selling $15 Nico Bones t-shirts too. American Idol airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.
