SOCKS: Bombas, the socks company that donates one pair of socks to homeless shelters for every pair purchased, pitched their company on Shark Tank and made a deal with fashion master Daymond John. Bombas has done well, teaming with GAP and in 2016 opening its first pop-up shop in Manhattan at Columbus Circle. SHOP men’s and women’s BOMBAS here.
JEWELRY: Stella Valle is a powerful line of jewelry created by West Point graduate sisters Paige Dellavalle and Ashley Jung. In 2013 Stella Valle went on Shark Tank and made a deal with Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner. They’ve crushed it at with Greiner on QVC and last year scored a high end deal with Nordstrom. Below is one of their signature Women Warriors bracelets from the “I Am” bracelet series. The sisters are all these things: strong, confident, courageous, passionate.
SWIMSUITS: After a rocky start to his partnership with Shark Tank‘s Barbara Corcoran, Mix Bikini designer Kelsey Duffy has turned the ship around — including the re-branding of Mix Bikini as Versakini.
APPAREL: The founders of The Elephant Pants pitched the Sharks with the tagline is: “Save elephants, feel good.” Cool Shark Daymond John felt good enough to put $500,000 into the company, which arrived at Shark Tank having already done $7 million in sales over the two previous years. Note: people like pants with elephants on them. Also note: they like entrepreneurs who have a charitable side. These guys actually give money to help save the elephants. See Elephant Pants Yoga Pants below.
CLOTHING RETAIL: RED DRESS BOUTIQUE. One of the biggest Shark Tank success stories was a hit before it got in front of the Sharks. The business has only accelerated.
Red Dress Boutique owner Diane Harbour went “into the Tank seeking $600,000 in exchange for 5 percent equity. They left with $1.2 million in exchange for 20 percent (10 percent to Mark Cuban, 10 percent to Robert Herjavec),” 2paragraphs reported in an article on Harbour’s Asperger’s. They did a million bucks the week after the show and work with brands like Kate Spade and Z Supply.
SWIMSUITS (again!): RAISING WILD. Florida sisters Shelly Hyde and Kara Haught accepted a $100,000 investment from tough but fun-loving Barbara Corcoran in exchange for 50 percent of their swimsuit biz, Raising Wild. Corcoran, as 2paragraphs reported, had to teach the young entrepreneurs a lot. But they’ve learned and expanded their offerings, including launching a line of $26 “Sunnies” sunglasses along with their suits.
ACCESSORIES: Mission Belt. Nate Holzapfel pitched his no-holes belt, the Mission Belt, on Shark Tank in 2013. And though Nate has taken his killer instinct for sales into professional training and coaching, the belts are still popular. Daymond John invested, and the Mission Belt product reviews on Amazon (click the Mission Belt photo below) are simply outstanding. Mission Belt, thanks to Daymond, made deals with the NBA, NCAA and NHL.
NECK TIES: Mo’s Bows. When 11-year-old Moziah Bridges and his mother Tramica Morris pitched Mo’s Bows on Shark Tank, he didn’t get a deal. He got something better: Daymond John as a mentor. Not the young man and his signature style are making their way in the world.
