In the second episode of Meet the Peetes, Hollywood actress Holly Robinson Peete and her mother Dolores Robinson take a spontaneous trip to New York City to visit Holly’s daughter Ryan. Dolores was Holly’s manager before Kris Kardashian and the term “momager” was coined. Dolores married actor Matt Robinson (the original Gordon on Sesame Street) in 1960. Although the marriage didn’t work out, as Dolores says, “I got great children and grandchildren out of it!” She also got to met a number of famous people along the way. Her husband went on to write and produce TV episodes for Sanford and Son, The Waltons, Eight Is Enough, and Captain Kangaroo, before joining the crew of The Cosby Show in 1983 as a writer and producer. (Matt Robinson, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, died in 2002.) Holly’s only sibling is her brother Matt Robinson III.
If there’s any 80-year-old woman to follow on Instagram, follow Dolores. She posts photos of herself with legends including Sidney Poitier, Muhammad Ali, Lady Gaga and Hillary Clinton. And she has great taste in art. See her Kehinde Wiley painting in her home below. He’s the artist who just did Obama’s official White House portrait. And yes, she knows the Obamas too. Meet the Peetes airs Sundays at 10pm on Hallmark.
