In the Scandal episode “Army of One,” President Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) announces that she wants Jake Ballard (Jake Foley) as her new chief of staff. That kind of news lights a flame under Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). Olivia barges into the Oval Office, throws her gigantic purse onto a couch and approaches Mellie as if she has venom in her mouth. “Please tell me after everything you are not this stupid… and naive, and reckless and foolish…but most of all stupid.” Mellie calmly replies, “What would be stupid is believing all of your lies.” She adds, “I would be stupid if for one more second I actually trusted that there is only us.”
While Olivia works on making sure Jake does not become the new chief of staff, back at Papa Pope’s house, lawyer Quinn Perkins (Katie Lowes) becomes restless. While washing dishes, Quinn tells Rowan (Joe Morton), “Without the White House in her corner, we could put her away for good.” Quinn doesn’t just talk about getting rid of Olivia. She’s armed and dangerous! Scandal airs Thursdays at 9pm on ABC, right after Grey’s Anatomy and right before How to Get Away with Murder.
