David Byrne, musical iconoclast and former frontman for Talking Heads, announced eight artists who’ll be joining him on his 2018 tour. Byrne wants people to know this wasn’t set up by some label big wig, mining the demographics to make sure no ticket goes unsold. These are Byrne’s personal choices. He writes: “All the artists who are joining me on my tour have been chosen by me. Needless to say, I am familiar with all of their music, though I haven’t met all of them or seen some of them perform.”
Here are the eight artists Byrne selected for the Tour — and below are videos from each. Byrne kicks off the tour at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey on March 3 and two weeks later will be in Santiago, Chile for Lollapalooza Chile. After weeks in Latin America, Byrne’s tour returns to the States before heading for Europe in June. He finishes back in the US, with a sendoff at Red Rocks. David Byrne official tour schedule here.
