The Lifetime movie Faith Under Fire: The Antoinette Tuff Story tells the story of a single mom who worked as a school bookkeeper. Tuff was working in the front office at the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy in Decatur, Georgia in 2013 when a deranged gunman entered the building. The school went into lockdown and the gunman fired shots at the police outside. Remarkably, Tuff convinced the man to surrender and without any injuries.
Seven-time Grammy Award winner Toni Braxton gives an Emmy Award-worthy performance as Tuff. Malik Yoba also gives a stellar performance as Sergeant Franklin. Yoba is known for his roles on Designated Survivor (Jason Atwood), Empire (Vernon Turner), Alphas (Bill Harken), Girlfriends (Brock), and New York Undercover (Det. J.C. Williams), among others. Yoba is also recognized for his roles in the Why Did I Get Married? movies (Gavin), Paul Auster’s Smoke (The Creeper), and Cop Land (Det. Carson). Yoba made his acting debut in the 1993 film Cool Runnings about the Olympic Jamaican Bobsled Team with the late great John Candy and Doug E. Doug.
