The Cleveland Cavaliers’ recent highlights have been limited to LeBron James’s career accomplishments. In San Antonio the Cavaliers saw James score his 30,000th point, becoming only the 7th player in NBA history to do so. But they lost. They got demolished actually. Because the other Cavaliers don’t look like players who are coming off three straight NBA Finals appearances. They look like guys trying to slide into the 8th playoff spot. Rumor is the Cavs locker room isn’t happy with the play of Kevin Love, a familiar scapegoat. But TNT tirade master Charles Barkley thinks the Cavaliers current aroma emanates from Tristan Thompson, JR Smith and Channing Frye — at least as much as from Love. (Though there is that song.)
“These guys trying to blame all their ills on Kevin Love, I’ve had enough of it. I got a list of guys been MIA. Tristan Thompson, what happened to you? Jae Crowder, what happened to you? JR, Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye. For you guys to go after Kevin Love, second-best player on the team, that’s just bogus and lightweight. To try to blame that guy because y’all stink, that ain’t right and I ain’t having it.” Barkley didn’t mention Isaiah Thomas, the point guard traded for Kyrie Irving, or point guard Derrick Rose, the former NBA MVP whose Cavaliers career has been as uneven as his Knicks stint. Both Thomas and Rose are back from recent injuries. Shumpert too, is back from injury, but wasn’t spared.
