In the Chicago P.D. episode “Monster,” Intelligence tries to track down a pill mill spreading into the suburbs of Chicago and the doctor behind the opioid ring. The case is triggered when a divorced mother of two is found dead. She had been in and out of rehab over the past two years and overdosed. Turns out she is the daughter of Judge Tommy Wells, who was a cop before he became a judge. He and Voight (Jason Beghe) were in the academy together. “Good police. Let’s do him right,” Voight tells the team.
[Pankow played Jennifer Aniston’s boyfriend in The Object of My Affection]
Judge Wells is portrayed by John Pankow. He’s known for his roles on Episodes (Merc Lapidus), Mad About You (Ira Buchman), and The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd (Ron Luchesse), among others. Pankow is also well recognized for his roles in the movies The Object of My Affection with Jennifer Aniston (Vince, see link above), Bride Wars (Anne Hathaway’s father John), Talk Radio (Dietz), and To Live and Die in L.A. (John Vukovich), among others. Fun fact: He’s married to actress Kristine Sutherland (Buffy’s mom on Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10pm on NBC, right after Law & Order: SVU.
