In the Madam Secretary episode “North to the Future,” the White House learns that a Russian dissident with smallpox is in the U.S. In an attempt to avoid an outbreak, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) turns to retired U.N. Ambassador Kat Sandoval (who’s in town for her book tour) to help work with Russian Foreign Minister Konstantin Avdonin (Yasen Peyankov).
[Ramirez looks totally different as Callie in Grey’s Anatomy]
Retired U.N. Ambassador Kat Sandoval is portrayed by Sara Ramirez. The Mexican-born actress is known for her roles on Grey’s Anatomy (Dr. Callie Torres, see link above), and in the films Washington Heights (Belkis), and You’ve Got Mail (Rose, the Zabars cashier), which was her acting debut. Fun fact about Ramirez: For the past four years she’s been providing the voice of Queen Miranda in the Disney animated series Sofia the First. Madam Secretary airs Sunday at 10:30pm on CBS, right after NCIS: Los Angeles. You can also stream 9000+ episodes and live TV with a CBS All-Access free trial.
