In the Great News episode “Pool Show,” New York Times reporter Jeremy (Reid Scott) invites Katie (Briga Heelan) to go on a stakeout with him. Katie’s mother Carol (Andrea Martin) follows them. But the real hilarity takes place with Portia’s (Nicole Richie) fiance Carvell and her on-camera partner, newscaster Chuck (John Michael Higgins). Carvell is a suspended NFL player who’s been accused of deflating footballs and refilling them with helium. With time on his hands, Carvell invites Chuck to play video games and to frolic in Portia’s pool.
Carvell is portrayed by Rashad Jennings. Last time the 6’1″, 230 lbs. Jennings was on TV was at the finals on Dancing with the Stars, Season 24. He and his pro dance partner Emma Slater won (Slater’s first win). Jennings is a 32-year-old football running back who’s a free agent in the NFL. He played college football at Pittsburgh and Liberty before being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2009 NFL Draft. Jennings also played with the Oakland Raiders and the New York Giants.
