In the Madam Secretary episode “The Fourth Estate,” while Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) works with the Mexican government to extradite a Mexican cartel leader to a U.S. prison, her right-hand man assistant Blake Moran (Erich Bergen) gets a visit from his parents, Fred and Edie Moran. Dad Fred is portrayed by Tim Matheson, who’s best known for his roles as smooth-talking Otter in Animal House and as Vice President Hoynes on The West Wing.
Mom Edie is portrayed by Caroline Aaron, who’s known for her roles in Woody Allen films including Crimes and Misdemeanors (Barbara) and Alice (Sue), Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands (Marge), and Mike Nichols’ Primary Colors (Lucille Kaufman), among many others. Fun fact: Aaron made her acting debut in the 1982 Robert Altman film Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 10:30pm on CBS, right after NCIS: Los Angeles.
