There are only 11 artists left on Season 13 of The Voice. And only two of them are on Adam Levine’s team: Addison Agen and Adam Cunningham who won the Instant Save last week. Agen is the 16-year-old from Fort Wayne, Indiana who wowed everyone with her version of Ray LaMontagne’s “Jolene” at her Blind Audition. To vie for a spot on the Top 10, Addison will sing a much older song, “A Case of You”, the 1971 ballad by singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell.

In a 1978 interview with Rolling Stone‘s Cameron Crowe (who later wrote and directed Almost Famous), Joni Mitchell said when she wrote the song “I had no personal defenses. I felt like a cellophane wrapper on a pack of cigarettes. I felt like I had absolutely no secrets from the world and I couldn’t pretend in my life to be strong. Or to be happy. But the advantage of it in the music was that there were no defenses there either.” Many singers have covered the song since, including Prince and Diana Krall. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
