In the Grey’s Anatomy episode “Go Big or Go Home,” we see the results of Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) hooking up with DeLuca’s (Giacomo Gianniotti) sister Carina. Or as Capshaw describes the scene: “She gets caught red-handed making out with a girl in her living room.” When DeLuca catches his sister and his roommate, “it plays for the comedy of it” because DeLuca only knows Arizona in a certain way and then bam, there she is.
Carina DeLuca is portrayed by Stefania Spampinato. She was born in Catania, Sicily, in a small town at the base of the volcano, Mt. Etna. She was a dancer for years before buying a one way ticket to Los Angeles in 2011. Since then she’s appeared on Glee (as a dancer) and in two episodes of USA Network’s Satisfaction as Paola. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
