In the Season 4 premiere of Madam Secretary, “News Cycle,” on the first day of the U.N. General Assembly, a diplomat suddenly dies during a meeting with Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni). In a bizarre but all too real twist, a “fake news” story claiming Elizabeth is responsible for the man’s death goes viral. 22 percent of Americans believe she’s guilty of murder. Meanwhile, her husband Henry (Tim Daly) has a conversation with CIA Director Hugh Haymond.

Haymond is portrayed by Michael Gaston, who recently played CIA Deputy Director Carter on Blindspot. Gaston is also recognized for his roles in the films Bridge of Spies (Agent Williams), W. (General Tommy Franks), Far from Heaven (Stan Fine), Ransom (Agent Jack Sickler), and The Crucible (Marshal Herrick). Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 10pm on CBS.
