You won’t see LeBron James or new acquisition Isaiah Thomas, but you’ll get the full-on Cavs vibe watching the annual Wine & Gold preseason intrasquad scrimmage. Just listen to the announcers, who are pumped for this new Cavs iteration. The Wine & Gold game has become a Cavaliers tradition — like midnight on the first practice day at some big college basketball programs. James is out with an ankle injury and former Celtics star Thomas won’t be back for months. But it sure has the look and feel of an All-Star game and the stands are hoppin’.
Kevin Love “playing some 5” — at’s the center spot, as opposed to big forward where he’s been. And, of course, there’s JR Smith to watch. Never boring, JR Smith. The Cavs have a huge amount of talent, more than last year. More athletic with Jae Crowder especially. It’s a much improved team. And oh yeah, they also have 12-time All-Star, 3-time NBA champ Dwyane Wade, who “came to camp in tremendous physical shape.” Gonna be fun in Cleveland this year, unless you’re the visiting team.
