Season 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm is going to be a doozy. While several familiar faces will reappear on the show including Cheryl Hines who plays Larry David’s ex-wife Cheryl David, so will celebrities new to the show — including Judith Sheindlin who will play her TV alter-ego Judge Judy. How did David get Judge Judy on the show? David told THR, “Judge Judy actually is in my ex-wife’s family so I knew her.” (They are related through marriage.) It’s been reported that the Davids recommended entertainment lawyer Nancy Rose to Judy Sheindlin when she needed an attorney to deal with a lawsuit regarding TV profits with CBS.

David’s ex-wife Laurie David interviewed her relative “Judge Judy” for her 2010 book, The Family Dinner: Great Ways to Connect with Your Kids, One Meal at a Time. In the book, Judge Judy reveals that she hired an etiquette expert to join her family — including her eight grandchildren — to a family dinner. David also interviewed Nora Ephron, Maya Angelou, Michael Pollan, Sheryl Crow, and Alice Waters for the book. Curb Your Enthusiasm airs Sundays at 10pm on HBO.
