Shane Vermette of Fremont, California is the inventor of the modified scissors, Right Shears. He says he fixed a problem many people have but don’t realize. Traditional scissors have straight blades; the blades of Right Shears are bent at a 45 degree angle. So your hand is above the paper that’s being cut. And Right Shears are ambidextrous (Shane is a lefty!).
Right Shears are sold for $20 on Amazon (see link above) and on the company website. The dimensions of the Right Shears are: 6.5″ l x 0.5″ w x 6.5″ h. They weigh 4 ounces per shear. On Steve Harvey’s Funderdome, Right Shears is competing against FED: Fun Eating Devices, a line of non-traditional eating utensils designed for picky eaters to get excited about eating.
