Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Aidan Turner, Jamie Bell, and even Gillian Anderson can all put away their tuxedos and cancel that Amazon order for 1002 Terrible Puns and go back to drinking plain old discount beer instead of shaken not stirred vodka martinis and will have to content themselves with mundane sex with average-looking people instead of mind-blowing bedroom antics with supermodels and realize that the only gadget they’re ever going to have is something stupid like a Fitbit instead of something really cool, like a watch that’s also an X-Ray machine or a pair of shoes that can be quickly turned into a jetpack, because following almost two years of will-he-won’t-he speculation that also saw every ambitious young actor on the block think that they were in with a shot at playing 007, Daniel Craig has decided that he is ready to be James Bond again for at least two more films.

According to The Mirror, Craig has been offered an enormous sum of money to reprise the role (he’ll earn about $77 million per movie), something that we first reported last September. At that time it was an unconfirmed rumor, but today the newspaper is reporting that producer Barbara Broccoli “is said to have secured Craig” and what is more, following the massive success of Skyfall’s theme tune, Broccoli has apparently has set her sights on getting Adele to record another Bond opening number. “Craig and Adele together are the winning team,” an unnamed source is quoted as saying, “the ultimate choice, the money spinners. It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr Craig is 007 again. As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive.” Only one other singer has recorded more than one Bond theme: the great Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Moonraker).
