In the Bar Rescue episode “Casually Tapped Out,” Jon Taffer travels to Chicago to meet Steve Magana, a full-time firefighter who owns and runs the Casual Tap in Portage Park. Magana needs help not just managing the bar but in bringing the establishment into the 21st century. There’s no POS cash register and the Casual Tap doesn’t accept credit cards. On Bar Rescue, Magana says if he were to close the bar, which loses at least $4000 a month, he would lose about $700,000.

Taffer puts Magana and his bartenders to the test when he arrives, and it ain’t pretty. Bugs are found in several bottles behind the bar. The episode, which was filmed in September and was originally slated to air in August 2017, is now airing July 2. Magana told the Chicago Tribune the bar won’t be open in time for the broadcast. He said, “I don’t have an opening date just yet” and that he will reopen with the layout that was in place before Bar Rescue arrived. New episodes of Bar Rescue air Sundays at 10pm on Spike TV.
