In the Downward Dog episode ‘Old’, it’s Martin’s seventh birthday but he’s not up for a big celebration. When Martin tries to sneak in a nap, his solitude is interrupted by a visit from Jenn (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) and her new puppy. Jenn and Nan (Allison Tolman) try to shake off their romantic relationship blues by going to a club where they hear one of their favorite singers, Deejay Devine.
The white-haired, pink boa-wearing singer Deejay Devine is portrayed by Nichelle Nichols. The 84-year-old actress best known for her roles as Uhura on Star Trek and as Nana Dawson on Heroes. Downward Dog airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC.
