On the Teen Mom OG episode ‘We Are Family’, while Amber hears about “another cheating scandal” involving her fiance Matt, Maci Bookout is dealing with her ex Ryan. Maci believes Ryan is struggling with drugs. When she reaches out to a counselor by phone, she tells him “I’m hoping to get some advice on helping an addict.” She goes on to explain that she’s not exactly sure what he’s (Ryan) is using but “sometimes he’ll fall asleep while we’re trying to have a conversation with him” and “he’s extremely wide-eyed.”
The counselor asks Maci if she’s ever confronted him about the behavior (she has not) or if she’s considered giving him an ultimatum which would include some legal action to protect her son Bentley if he doesn’t get help. When Maci says such action would probably need to include Ryan’s parents (they’re the caregivers of Bentley when the child is spending time with Ryan), the counselor tells Maci, “This might be, you know, quite the uphill battle.” Teen Mom OG airs Mondays at 9pm on MTV.
