Five-time NBA Champion Derek Fisher reportedly had his five championship rings stolen in January, the rings were part of a $300,000 stash of valuables Fisher reported missing in a home burglary. That seemed like it would be the worst part of Fisher’s year, but now it’s being reported that Fisher was arrested on suspicion of DUI after the car he was driving hit the median and flipped on California Freeway 101. Fisher is on a tough streak — he was fired as head coach of the New York Knicks in early 2016, then the rings, now the car crash/DUI suspicion.

Fisher had a very long run of good karma first, teaming with Kobe Bryant for his five titles with the Lakers, and making meaningful contributions with Utah and Dallas. (He played at OKC and Golden State, too.) Then just after Fisher retired from playing Phil Jackson made him the Knicks head coach — it’s a job nobody keeps very long. But Fisher has also made the news for his feud with ex-Lakers teammate Matt Barnes, with physical altercations between the two reported. The beef? Fisher violated an unwritten rule by dating Barnes’ ex-wife Gloria Govan (former star of Basketball Wives). Govan was in the car with Fisher when they crashed. Both were uninjured. When his championship rings were stolen people on Twitter chalked it up to the bad karma Fisher had incurred with his Govan move. Twitter will no doubt say the same about the crash. No word from Barnes.
