The U.S. Air Force Academy’s all-male a capella singing group goes by the name In the Stairwell. The group was formed in 2004 by a bunch of freshman. They took on the name In the Stairwell as that was the only place where they were allowed to practice (in dorm stairwells). After seeing the 16-member group sing Jason Mraz’s hugely popular song “I’m Yours” and a little number called “Over the Rainbow”, a producer for America’s Got Talent contacted the group. Their audition airs June 13.

Thompson Knox, one of the 16 cadets performing on AGT, said the experience was “by far one of the coolest experiences that our group has ever had the opportunity to be a part of.” And they’ve performed at The White House! Check out the video below that won them a spot on the big AGT stage. One of the soloists, Mac Lerum, is going to melt many hearts. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
