On The Real Housewives of New York City episode “Return of the Berzerkshires,” Sonja Morgan’s maternal instincts kick in when she sees fortysomething Tinsley Mortimer flirting with a 23-year-old guy. Tinsley has told Sonja that she wants to remarry and have kids someday. Sonja tries to interfere and reminds Tinsley that a 23-year-old “isn’t on the list.” Tinsley disregards Sonja’s reminder.

Also in the episode, Tinsley gets a visit from her real-life mother, Dale Tatum Mercer. This isn’t Dale’s first time on TV. The interior designer from Richmond, Virginia (and ex-wife of Tinsley’s late father George Mercer), appeared on Tinsley’s 2010 reality TV show, High Society and made socialite Devorah Rose cry. One astute TV watcher at the time described the youthful-looking Dale as a cross of “Julia Sugarbaker (the opinionated Southern woman played by the late great Dixie Carter on Designing Women) with the Real Housewives of New York City.” You see, it was meant to be! The Real Housewives of New York City airs Wednesdays at 9pm on Bravo.
