Jimmy Kimmel‘s passionate, emotional plea for affordable healthcare hit home for many and brought the issue front and center again. Kimmel’s new baby boy was born with a heart condition that required surgery. Kimmel was moved by the experience to praise the Affordable Care Act because before the so-called “Obamacare” implementation, Kimmel’s child’s heart condition would be considered a ‘pre-existing condition’ that would likely disqualify him from coverage.
Well said, Jimmy. That’s exactly why we fought so hard for the ACA, and why we need to protect it for kids like Billy. And congratulations! https://t.co/77F8rZrD3P

After Barack Obama shouted out congratulations to Kimmel and praised him for recognizing Obamacare’s coverage, President Trump responded too — through press secretary Sean Spicer. Spicer told reporters that Trump wants the same thing Kimmel wants, saying (in an unusual phrasing that Obama might approve): “I think that’s what the President is fighting for right now. To make sure we have a health care system that doesn’t matter where you live or your background, that it takes care of people.” Spicer sounds downright inclusive speaking about this version of health care.
My wife and I welcome a new baby and it is quite a story… https://t.co/VTT0oBsRFK
