The defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers have shaken off the trials, tribulations and injuries of the regular season and are using the playoffs to practice their new strategy: destroy and rest, destroy and rest. That’s been the Cavaliers M.O. in these playoffs. They have won eight straight games with two straight four-game sweeps that allows them to take a week off before the next series. With the Wizards and Celtics knotted at 2-2, the Cavs will again take a long rest — rest from which they have yet to emerge rusty.
Across the country the almost-defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors are on the same path. The Warriors are winners of seven straight and look to put away the Utah Jazz in a four-game sweep with one more win. With the Spurs and Rockets also locked down at 2-2, the Warriors are looking to use the same strategy as the Cavaliers: Destroy and rest, destroy and rest. The two teams seem destined for a third straight NBA Finals matchup, but you never know. That’s why they play the games. Both teams will continue to get a lot of rest and home cooking while they wait.
