In the Chicago P.D. episode ‘Grasping for Salvation’, while investigating the murder of a teenage boy, Detective Voight (Jason Beghe) is told that the gun used on the boy is the same gun used in a murder case Voight worked on 17 years ago. “Ballistics don’t lie,” Voight is told, implying Voight put away the wrong guy 17 years ago who’s now serving a life sentence in prison. While Voight looks into the old case, his old boss Lt. Denny Woods shows up and tells Voight to “stop digging.”
