Barry Gibb is the sole survivor of the prolific band The Bee Gees — they released 22 albums over 36 years. And that doesn’t include all the songs they wrote for others. CBS will honor the band of brothers with a two-hour TV special, Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees. In the audience will be Barry Gibb’s wife of 46 years, Linda Gibb.
[Left: Timeless – The All-Time Greatest Hits will be released April 17]
Barry Gibb of The Bee Gees married his second wife Linda (née) Gray Gibbs in 1970, the same year he and his first wife Maureen Bates divorced after four years. Barry met 17-year-old Linda, then Miss Edinburgh, while taping the BBC’s Top of the Pops in London. During an interview with the New York Post last year, Barry Gibb, now 70, said the late Steve McQueen once tried to “take off with Linda on the back of his motorbike.” Gibbs explained, “She’s a very beautiful woman, and had just as many opportunities as me.” Barry and Linda are the parents of 5 children and 7 grandchildren. Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees will air Sunday, April 16 at 8pm on CBS.
