Burt Reynolds used to fill in for late night talk show legend Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show, where Charo was a regular guest. These days Charo is doing her dancing on Dancing With the Stars, but back in the day she danced practically whenever she walked.
In this clip (sadly blurry) from 1971, Reynolds introduces her by calling her “as uninhibited as she is beautiful.” Charo then emerges from behind the curtain in resplendent full “Charo-ness” — she wears a form-fitting silver sequins halter top and matching disco pants that are to die for. She dances around provocatively before sitting down to play classical flamenco guitar, her specialty. Then she sits down with Reynolds and chats it up Alex Karras, former NFL player (Detroit Lions) turned actor (Blazing Saddles, Webster).
