On The Walking Dead season finale episode ‘The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,’ King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) tells Morgan (Lennie James) to join him and the Kingdom. “Accompany my regiment,” Ezekiel says. As part of his pitch, Ezekiel claims “The Saviors are a dragon with many heads” and basically says there is strength in numbers and “we must seek allies in this endeavor.” But Morgan remains silent.
Ezekiel hits a sore spot when he points out that Morgan is wearing Benjamin’s armor. “Do you wear it to serve you, or do you wear it in his honor?” asks Ezekiel. Morgan remains silent. Ezekiel tells him, “Morgan, you are not stuck.” At the end of Ezekiel’s pitch, he tells Morgan if he fights with the him, “no one will suffer under their (the Saviors’) capricious malevolence again.” The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
