One of the talented singers auditioning for a spot on The Voice Season 12 is Missy Robertson. The soul you hear in her voice comes from her “church roots.” She is the daughter of preacher Randy Robertson, who according to Missy has been preaching since he was 7 years old. “I don’t know a better example to imitate except Christ,” Missy wrote when her father celebrated 50 years of preaching in 2014. Missy and her father are both pastors at Impact Church.

The Sacramento-native singer/songwriter counts fellow daughter of a preacher Aretha Franklin as a vocal influence. Missy also likes to sing Alicia Keys songs including her “Holy War” (see video below). The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
