In the Grey’s Anatomy episode ‘Who is He (And What is He to You)?’, Dr. Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) and Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew) — aka Japril — travel to Montana to operate on a young patient. But while in Big Sky Country, Jackson has a difficult time concentrating knowing that his father lives nearby. (Jackson was raised by his mother.) April, Jackson’s ex-wife, chews out Jackson for not telling her that he had found his father. “When were you going to tell me you found your father, Jackson? Your long-lost deadbeat dad…former surgeon Dr. Avery who slings hash at the local diner,” she yells. “He’s the whole reason we’re here!” Jackson denies that’s the reason they’re in Montana. April’s not buying it.
April convinces Jackson to go see his father. Standing outside the diner, with tears in his eyes, Jackson says, “This is stupid.” April says, “No, it’s not.” Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
