Naughty Boy, Beyonce and Arrow Benjamin gave the world “Runnin (Lost It All)” back in 2015, but it took the devastatingly powerful trailer (see below) for the upcoming film Everything, Everything to give the tune the platform it needed to colonize hearts. Lesson: sometimes even Queen Bey needs a bit of timing and a second chance to win and move you. (Pop culture, of course, is filled with stories of songs, books, films, etc. that didn’t hit — and then suddenly they did. See The Holy or the Broken: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, and the Unlikely Ascent of “Hallelujah”.) That said “Runnin (Lost It All)” is hardly an obscure Leonard Cohen ballad — the video (below) has over 200 million views. But now it’s about to get an even bigger audience. Look out, Oscar.

The tearjerking story, based on Nicola Yoon’s bestselling novel, tells the tale of a young woman isolated by a rare immune deficiency who breaks free to experience love at any price — rather than just survive in a loveless existence.
