Jon Stewart returned to his pal Stephen Colbert‘s show where the erstwhile Daily Show host — and skewer of BS — implored the media to get its damn “groove back.” In other words make like Stella, she who famously got her groove back in How Stella Got Her Groove Back, the inspirational film based on Terry McMillan’s novel. Stewart basically told CNN, The New York Times and company to walk away from their bad co-dependent relationship with Trump and re-establish their own powerful independence. Trump, of course, petulantly banned those news organizations from a news conference. Stewart:
“I heard Donald Trump broke up with you. Stings a little, doesn’t it? You finally thought you’d met your match: a blabbermouth who’s as thin-skinned and narcissistic as you are. Well, now it’s over! Well, good riddance, I say. Kick. Him. To. The. Curb.”

In other words, do like Stella. Portrayed by the toned and terrific Angela Bassett in the movie, Stella got her groove back and then some. In fact the media might do well to take Bassett’s lead from other films too. She convincingly played the abused singer Tina Turner who eventually rose up and kicked brutal, manipulative, thin-skinned husband Ike Turner to the curb. Jon Stewart’s right. Follow Angela Bassett, get your groove back.
