On the three-hour Sister Wives special ‘A Shocking Revelation,’ while Kody Brown’s eldest child Mariah (the first of his 18 children) is still mad at her birth mother Meri for getting involved in a catfishing scandal, she also manages to shock everyone in the family when she announces that she’s gay. Growing up in Utah as a Mormon, Mariah says she was terrified of being gay. Mariah told People magazine that as a child, “One bishop told me gay people were selfish.”
When Mariah told her family, her mother Meri said, “I’m so proud of her for having the strength.” On her Twitter account, Mariah’s profile now reads: “Ask me about my radical feminist agenda.” Sister Wives airs Sundays at 8pm on TLC.
