Mike Brey has been the head coach of the Notre Dame men’s basketball team since 2000. Or as some consider it, B.T. (before Twitter). Since then, Brey joined the social media network (in 2009) and has more than 30,000 followers. But Brey follows just 10 accounts on Twitter – and 5 of them are people. Not one of them are players on his current team.
The five people Brey follows are his associate head coach Rod Balanis, his two assistant coaches Ryan Ayers and Ryan Humphrey, former NBA player David Robinson, and his soon-to-be Fighting Irish player DJ Harvey who committed to Notre Dame in November. In 2017, Harvey will graduate from DeMatha Catholic High School, Brey’s alma mater in Maryland. He was also a teacher there (see photo below).
