Engineer Daniel Wood of Camas, Washington designed an electric Self-Balancing Unicycle, appropriate called SBU. He and his COO David Martschinske demonstrated the hands-free, battery-charged unicycle and pitched their business (Focus Designs) on Shark Tank in 2012. They received an offer of $300,000 from Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec for 30 percent equity. According to the company’s Wikipedia page, the deal fell through after the show.

The SBU, which can go about 12 mph was sold for $1,795 via Amazon but it is no longer available. According to Wood’s LinkedIn account, he is still CEO of Focus Designs. Martschinske left Focus Designs in October 2014. According to his LinkedIn account he is currently working as a program engineer to DTNA at ConMet in Portland.
