Myles Turner won the headlines in the Pacers 130-121 OT victory in the season opener against the Dallas Mavericks. The second-year center with unlimited potential put up number that make the Hoosier faithful swoon: 30 points, 16 rebounds, 4 blocks.
But Indiana brought more than just Turner to the fight. Battling a game Mavericks squad who looked good too in an away opener, the Pacers needed all their strength. Probably the best news outside of Turner for Pacers fans was the play of Paul George and Monta Ellis. That Ellis (44 minutes) and George (42 minutes) were able to be on the floor — and productive — for that long in the opener is an encouraging sight for the Pacers faithful. All five Pacers starters scored in double figures.
