On the second episode of This Is Us, Kate (Chrissy Metz) struggles to lose weight while her brother Randall struggles with his relationship with his biological father. Meanwhile brother and actor Kevin (Justine Hartley) feels the repercussions from quitting his gig on The Manny (for reasons of artistic integrity or “because Ryan Gosling wouldn’t do this crap”). After getting chewed out by his agent Lanie (Katey Sagal) — “the network owns you, they can bankrupt you” — Kevin agrees to meet with the president of the network, Wes Manning.
Wes Manning is portrayed by Brad Garrett. He’s known for his roles on Fargo (Joe Bulo), The Crazy Ones with the late great Robin Williams (Gordon Lewis), How to Live with Your Parents (Max Green), ‘Til Death (Eddie Stark), and Everybody Loves Raymond (big brother NYPD officer Robert Barone), among others. Garrett still performs standup comedy and is the author of the memoir, When The Ball Drops. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC.
