On the premiere episode of Sweet 15: Quinceañera, viewers are introduced to Bella Quinces, a one-stop shop for Quinceañeras in Miami. The store caters to the parents of Latina girls about to turn 15. “It’s the day she becomes a woman,” one mother says. Some parents having been anticipating this day “since the day she was born.” As one father says, “Marriages come and go but my little girl only turns 15 once.”
The family-run Bella Quinces has been in the Quinceañeras business for 45 years. They do everything from gowns and photos (sometimes sexy, sometimes involving live baby tigers, adult alligators and long snakes) to the blow-out event itself. All while “trying to keep everything PG-13.” Sweet 15: Quinceanera airs Tuesdays at 9pm on TLC.
