In her best and most enthusiastic accent, former Scary Spice Mel B delivered a powerful verdict on the a capella singing group from Louisville, KY, Linkin’ Bridge. After the fab four wowed the crowd with an immensely powerful performance of Lukas Graham’s growing up anthem “7 Years”, Mel B said they had completely upped their game, making themselves contenders for the grand prize.
How good was Linkin’ Bridge in this semifinal? Mel B. said “you guys put Boyz II Men to shame.” The crowd gasped, and the emotional singers in the group were blown away by the praise — they looked stunned. Boyz II Men, btw, once held on to the top spot on the Billboard 100 for a record 13 straight weeks, breaking a record held by none other than Elvis Presley. In fact, with a combined total of 50 weeks at the No. 1 spot on the charts, Boyz II Men became only the fourth such act in that stratosphere — along with Elvis, The Beatles and Mariah Carey. And Mel B just told Linkin’ Bridge that they put Boyz II Men to shame… America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
