In the HBO series Hard Knocks, the camera follows the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, quarterback Jared Goff as gets to know his Los Angeles Rams teammates. But it’s NFL Hall of Famer Mike Singletary who steals the show. In June 2016, Singletary announced that he would be joining the defense coaching staff of the LA Rams. In a sneak peek of the episode “Training Camp,” Singletary brings his expertise and intensity. He’s not the kind of coach to just bark out drills; at 57, he’s showing players how to do them right. One player on the sidelines is heard saying, “That’s one coach I’m not f—king with.”
After playing college football at Baylor, Singletary played his entire NFL career with the Chicago Bears (1981-1992). In 2003, the Super Bowl champion started coaching. Singletary has worked with the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers (where he was head coach, 2009-2010), and the Minnesota Vikings before moving to LA. The Hard Knocks episode ‘Training Camp’ will air Tuesday, August 23 at 10pm on HBO.
